The Millennium Science Forum was established in March 1999 with the following objectives:
1. Promote research in Condensed Matter Science in Japan.
2. Motivate young researchers in Condensed Matter Science.
3. Increase the scientific exchange between Japan and Britain.
The Millennium Science Forum is held annually at the British Embassy in Tokyo with distinguished Japanese and UK speakers from the scientific community.
The Millennium Science Forum promotes the “Sir Martin Wood Prize” which is awarded to a young researcher who has made an outstanding contribution in condensed matter science.
Sir Martin Wood is the founder of Oxford Instruments plc, the scientific research equipment manufacturer that supports the prize.
